President Obama asked if anyone had an idea that would help bring down the cost of health care to let him know.
Here are the ways we can reduce health care costs:
- Eliminate pension plans for hospital employees. We cannot afford to pay people when they no longer offer their services. It is one of the reasons hospital stays are so expensive.
- Remove the mandate for health care professionals to buy malpractice or any other insurance. Let the MDs decide if they want to purchase it and let the patients decide if they will see a doc without it. Without the mandate to buy, insurance policy costs will drop, which in turn can lead to lower costs for the patient.
- Allow health insurance to be sold nationwide. Competition always brings down prices.
- Tort reform. All people will have to go before a mediator prior to filing a lawsuit. This will reduce lawsuits, which are the cause of outlandish insurance costs.
- Medical bills cannot have any surcharges on them to offset other debts of the government.
- Allow people, particularly those with chronic diseases, to go directly to a specialist. It’s a waste of time and money to go to the GP to get a note that it’s okay for you to see a specialist.
It is that simple to bring down the cost of health care and health insurance. Obama almost got the point when he said the American citizen is saying "what’s in it for me?" We the People are saying we can no longer afford to pay anyone’s bills but our own, so stop buying things for others on our behalf and sending us the bill.
